GREENWOOD, Ind. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team had four players earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, as announced on Tuesday (Mar. 25). Seniors
Courtney Krueger (Merrill, Wis./Merrill),
Gabby Gawlitta (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and
Alexa Thomson (De Pere, Wis./West) along with junior
Ava Loftus (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) received the honors.
CSC Release
Krueger earns her third-straight CSC Academic All-District honor. She has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for three-straight years. This season, Krueger was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. She starting all 27 games this season. She averaged 5.8 points per game. She led the team with 68 assists, the sixth-most in the WIAC this season.
Gawlitta also earned her third-straight CSC Academic All-District nod. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll every year from the 2021-22 school year. This season, Gawlitta earned an All-WIAC Honorable Mention. She was second on the team in scoring at 10.2 points per game. She was also second in rebounds with 198. Gawlitta posted six double-doubles this season. She was in double figures 15 times during the season with a season-best 20 points in a win over Aurora
Thomson received her third-straight CSC Academic All-District honor. She has been on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll since her freshman year. This season, Thomson scored her 1000th point, becoming the 22
nd player in school history to do so. She was also honored as All-WIAC first team, D3 Hoops All-Region 9 second team, and WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America honorable mention team. She was third in the conference in scoring with a 17.1 points per game average. She had eight double-doubles on the season and led the Pointers with 232 rebounds. Thomson finished her UWSP career with 1,161 points, the 12th-most in program history.
Loftus earned her first CSC Academic All-District nod. Last season, she was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in her first year as a Pointer. She played in all 27 games with four starts. Loftus was in double figures twice this season and posted a season-high 13 points versus Illinois College in December.
The Pointers finished the season at the NCAA Gustavus Adolphus Regional, falling to #8/12 Wartburg College, 57-56. This was the 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the first appearance since the 2015-16 season.
