WHITEWATER, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team finished second at the Midwest Elite Meet. The men finished with a score of 97.5. The women finished eighth with a score of 5.5.
 
Results
 
The UWSP men were led by first-place finishes from Martin Kimmel (Deerfield, Wis./Deerfield), Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) and Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus).
 
Kimmel won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:55.39.
 
Penzkover took the mile run with a personal-best time of 4:12.97.
 
Rennhack heaved a mark of 16.56 meters in the shot put to take first.
 
The women were led by Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) and the relay team of Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union), Maddy Boehnlein (Mount Calvary, Wis./Hartford Union), Malina Carattini (Mosinee, Wis/Mosinee) and Jamie Deschand.
 
Zirbel finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters.
 
The relay team of Bartelt, Boehnlein, Carattini and Deschand took seventh in the 4x400-meter with a time of 4:16.59.
 
The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 22) in Oshkosh for the Titan Challenge, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
