4x400 Relay, Mead Highlight Track & Field at Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams finished day two of the Phil Esten Challenge, with the men finishing fourth with 85 team points and women tied for sixth with 40 team points.
 
Results
 
For the men, Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West) was the Pointers top contributing individual winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.92. He also ran a leg in the 4x400-meter relay which logged a win.
 
The relay unit of Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton), Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville) and Mead logged a win in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:23.21.
 
Gilles remained consistent in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.74 to place second.
 
Austin Phillips (Two Rivers, Wis./Two Rivers) added a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.27.
 
Tre Sanda (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Parker) continued to build off his impressive start to jump events with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a top jump of 14.03 meters (46' 0.50").
 
Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) earned a top mark in the high jump with a best jump of 1.98 meters (6' 6") to finish second.
 
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) logged a second-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 15.68 meters (51' 5.50"). He also notched a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.02 meters (167' 5").
 
For the women, Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) was the top finisher for the Pointers with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and a mark of 1:03.75.
 
The relay unit of Malina Carattini (Mosinee, Wis/Mosinee), Anetha Vogele (Necedah, Wis./Necedah), Ashley Spatz (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) and Bartelt logged a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:02.48.
 
Vogele tacked on a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.62.
 
Amelia Retzlaff (New Lisbon, Wis./New Lisbon) led UWSP in the throws with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 47.15 meters (154' 8").
 
Adyn Theriault (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) took fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.85 as the Pointers top sprinter.
 
The Pointers will travel to De Pere for the St. Norbert College Invite on Saturday (April. 12). First events are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.
