Eight members of the UW-Stevens Point swimming & diving teams were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday (April 2). The men's honorees included
Beckett McGraw (Oswego, Ill./Oswego),
Ethan Otto (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins),
Mike Schneider (Blaine, Minn./Centennial) and
Jack Weber (Appleton, Wis./West). The women's honorees included
Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther),
Abby Hopfensperger (Appleton, Wis./West),
Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) and
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North).

McGraw competed in seven meets this season with his best performance coming against Division I Milwaukee (Feb. 3). He posted a second-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:37.54. McGraw also managed a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.90.

Otto had an impactful season for the Pointers racking up a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week award (Jan. 29- Feb. 4) for his performance against Division I Milwaukee. He took first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:28.81. He also earned a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:09.48 and a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.30. At the WIAC Championships, Otto's best performance came in the 1650 freestyle, taking seventh with a time of 16:46.47.

Schneider swam in seven meets for the Pointers in his senior season. His best performance came against Division I Milwaukee (Feb. 3), where he tacked on two third-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.06 and in the 200-yard breaststroke with a personal-best time of 2:16.43. Schneider also added a ninth-place finish in the congested 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.69.

Weber competed in seven meets for the Pointers in his junior season. His best performance came against Division I Milwaukee (Feb. 3), posting an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.93. Weber also added a 16th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.98.

Ernst swam in eight meets in her junior season, including the WIAC Championships. At the conference championships, she took sixth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.08. Ernst also earned a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.12.

Hopfensperger earned two WIAC Diver of the Week honors (Oct. 23-29, 2023 & Nov. 13-19, 2023) this season. Against St. Norbert (Oct. 27), she racked up two first-place finishes in the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive with respective scores of 249.75 and 258.80. At UW-Whitewater (Nov. 18), Hopfensperger added two more first-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 240.95 and 244.15, respectively. At the WIAC Championships, she logged a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 409.55 and a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 384.10.

Scheglowski swam in eight meets in her first season as a Pointer after transferring from Sioux Falls. At the WIAC Championships, she took fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.46. Scheglowski also finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.46 and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.83.

Vandenberg competed in eight meets in her senior season, with top finishes at the WIAC Championships. Her best placement came in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.83 to take ninth. Vandenberg logged 11th-place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 24.94 and 55.28.
