Pointers’ Anderson, Heneghan Bestowed AHCA/CCM All-America Honors

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – UW-Stevens Point's Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir Winston Churchill) and Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill.) were named to the AHCA/CCM West Second-Team All-America honors, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced on Wednesday (March 20).

Anderson grabs his first All-America honor after becoming the first-ever repeat WIAC Player of the Year this season. He led the Pointers in scoring with 13 goals and 30 points. His 17 assists ranked second on the team. Anderson led UWSP with 106 shots taken and tallied two game-winning goals. He racked up point streaks of seven games (Nov. 4-Dec. 1) and five games (Dec. 8-Jan. 12). He had seven multi-point nights, including a season-high three points against UW-Eau Claire and at UW-River Falls.
 
Heneghan also garners his first All-America honor after picking up his second-consecutive first-team All-WIAC nod this year. He posted 17 points with five goals and 12 assists in 24 games played. He netted two game-winning goals and four multi-point nights. He racked up a season-best three points, all assists in a win at Hamline.
 
The Pointers won the fifth WIAC Commissioner's Cup after hosting the championship for the eighth-straight season. UWSP made its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance this season.
