BROWN DEER, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team wrapped up day three of the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's). The UWSP men remained in second with a score of 552.50, while the UWSP women stayed put in third with a team score of 362.50.

For the men, freshman
Matt Warweg (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) was crowned the 100-yard backstroke champion after placing first with a time of 50.20. This new personal-best crushed his previous best of 52.69.

Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.08. Grimstad finished 0.01 seconds out of first place.

Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) logged a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.55.

Freshman diver
Declan Trant (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) finished tied for second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 465.60.

The relay unit of
Camden Barwick (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest), Grimstad, McMahon and
Matthew Loy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.75.

Mason Releford (Vacaville, Cal./Vacaville Christian) earned a third-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:11.40.

Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther),
Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) and
Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) took third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.06.

Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) took fourth-place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:42.51.

Scheglowski took fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.46.

The Pointers resume action for the final day of the WIAC Championships on Saturday (Feb. 17). Day four of the championships are set to start with prelims at 10:00 a.m.
