Ashley Kopp named Academic All-America Third team

UWSP Volleyball’s Ashley Kopp Earns Academic All-America Honors

UW-Stevens Point volleyball's Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) became just the second player in program history to earn Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced Tuesday (Jan. 9). Kopp was named to the third team joining Alexis Hartman (2014, third team) as the only two Pointers to earn the accolade.

Kopp adds the academic All-America honor to her already lengthy portfolio of awards. She earned her second consecutive academic all-district honor in December.
 
A three-time AVCA All-America selection, Kopp led the nation in total points with 667.5 and total kills with 593. She racked up 24 double-doubles on the season, including both matches at the NCAA Tournament. Kopp racked up a season-high 27 kills in the NCAA Regional semifinal against Hope, her 11th match of the year with at least 20 kills.
 
Kopp moved into the top-7 in school history in both career kills and career digs this season. She became just the third player is program history to reach the 1500-kill mark, doing so in the home finale against UW-Whitewater on Oct. 25.
 
This season, the Pointers went 23-11 and reached the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals, falling in five sets to eventual national runner-up Hope. It was the sixth appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last 10 seasons.
