Thomka, Shaw Land All-WIAC Honors for UWSP Volleyball

MADISON, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point volleyball's Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) earned All-WIAC honors, the league announced Thursday (Nov. 13). Thomka was a first-team selection while Shaw landed on the honorable mention team. Senior Olivia Paukner (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Thomka picks up her second career league award after an honorable mention nod in 2024. She played in 30 matches this season and had a team-high 90 total blocks. Thomka led the Pointers in service aces with 38. She racked up 249 kills, second on the team. She had 10 double-figure kills matches on the season, five of which were against conference opponents. In October, Thomka was named to the Papa John's Invitational all-tournament team.
 
Shaw garners her first conference league accolade. She played in 26 matches and led the team with 261 kills. She had 138 digs, 26 total blocks, 13 service aces and 10 assists on the year. Shaw had 15 games in which she racked up double-digit kills and posted a pair of double-doubles. She recorded a season-high 20 kills in a win over Hardin-Simmons.
 
 
Paukner was named to the all-sportsmanship team after playing in 30 matches her senior season. She posted 146 kills and 60 blocks, the second-best season totals of her four-year career. Paukner had a season-high 11 kills in a victory over Gustavus Adolphus in October. That month, Paukner earned all-tournament team honors at the Blugold Alumni Weekend Invitational.
 
The Pointers finished the season with a 16-16 record and were eliminated from the conference tournament on Tuesday in the first round against No. 11 UW-Whitewater.
