Swimming & Diving Splits Road Dual at UW-La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving teams split in their road dual with UW-La Crosse. The UWSP men won with a score of 180.5 to UWL's 119.5 and the UWSP women fell with a score of 82 to UWL's 218.
 
Results
 
The UWSP men were led by Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah), who managed three wins on the day for the Pointers. He won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.75, the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.67 and the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.76.
 
Freshman Declan Trant (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) took first-place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 310.15 and second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 272.05.
 
Matt Warweg (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) tacked on a win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.22. Warweg added a second-place finish in the 100-backstroke with a time of 53.00.
 
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) registered a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.55 and took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.50. Mason Releford (Vacaville, Cal./Vacaville Christian) finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:14.06.
 
Matthew Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) posted a winning performance in the 1000-yard freestyle to take first with a time of 10:20.80.
 
Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.00 and contributed a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:20.92.
 
James Stadler (Madison, Wis./West) posted one of his best performances of the year with a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 285.80.
 
The UWSP women were led by Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield), who won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.04 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.66. Scheglowski also contributed a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.76.
 
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) logged a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:23.81. She also added a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.84 and a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.16.
 
Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) managed two second-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:33.38 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:36.24.
 
Mimi Trenary (Moline, Ill./Moline) took a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.67.
 
The relay unit of Scheglowski, Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Anderson and Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) logged a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:47.07.
 
The Pointers will head south on Saturday (Feb. 3) to face Milwaukee. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
