UWSP Men’s Swimming and Diving Ensures Victory, Women Take Second at Point Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team concluded the final of the annual Point Invite. The UWSP men took first with a score of 1260.50 sliding past second-place Gustavus Adolphus, while the UWSP women remained in second with a team score of 1031.
 
Swim Results
 
For the men, the relay unit of Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon), Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina), Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and Camden Barwick (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) took a commanding first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.29.
 
The team of Matthew Loy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights), Grimstad, Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) and Larsen registered a first-place mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:12.02.
 
Grimstad continued his dominant weekend with another first-place finish, winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.04.
 
Freshman Matt Warweg (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) tacked on a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.97.
 
Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) logged a win in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:25.31.
 
Kody Hellenbrand (Madison, Wis./East) managed a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.41.
 
Biscan added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.15.
 
Loy earned his best placement of the season with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.37.
 
For the women, junior standout Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) logged two wins on the day. Fris took first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:53.20 and in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.85.
 
Madeline Krzykowski (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.79.
 
Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) tacked on two second-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.26 and in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.17.
 
The relay unit of Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther), Mimi Trenary (Moline, Ill./Moline), Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.48.
 
Fris, Hansen, Scheglowski and Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:47.34.
 
The Pointers return to action at UW-La Crosse for a conference dual on Saturday (Jan. 27). First event is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
