Miller Repeats as Winner at 50-Yard Freestyle at Day Two of WIAC Championships

BROWN DEER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team is in second place following day two of the WIAC Championships with 294 points. They are only 5 points behind the first-place team. The women's team is in third-place with 185 points, 98 points behind the second-place team.  

Results 

Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won the 50-yard freestyle again this year with a time of 20.71. This is the 12th championship in a row that the Pointer's men have won this event. Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) followed closely behind in second with a time of 20.98. 

Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:52.51. He finished less than one second behind the first-place finisher.  

The relay team of Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon), Miller, Grimstad and Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) took second place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:20.17.  

Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) finished in third place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:41.04.  

Evan Plummer (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) placed fifth in the one-meter dive with a score of 433.80. 

On the women's side, Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) took third place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:10.51, finishing only a little over a second after the first-place finisher.  

The relay team of Fris, Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) and Brooke Buck (Janesville, Wis./AZVA Academy) finished third place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:56.92.  

Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) took fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.67.  

Buck placed sixth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.02, finishing only 15 seconds behind the first-place finisher.  

The Pointers will compete in day three of the WIAC Championships on Friday (Feb. 17). Preliminaries are set to start at 10:00 a.m.
