ST. PETER, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team traveled to Minnesota to square off at the Gustavus Adolphus/Minnesota State Mankato Tri-Dual. The UWSP men finished with a score of 189 to GAC's 130, while the UWSP women finished with a score of 60 to MSU's 257 and 133 to GAC's 185.

Freshmen
Matthew Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and
Matt Warweg (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) built off their strong starts to their collegiate careers with first-place finishes on the day. Johnson placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.39. Warweg placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.69 and first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:54.63.
The Pointers owned the short-distance freestyle events with
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.22 and
Camden Barwick (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) taking the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 48.46.
Miller also added a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:14.37.
Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) earned wins in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard IM with a times of 51.26 and 1:59.28, respectively. He added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.28.
Freshman
Declan Trant (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) added two first-place finishes to his resume, winning the 1-meter dive with a score of 273.10 and the 3-meter dive with a score of 253.10.
Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) finished second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:27.57 and third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.84.
Jake Larsen posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:59.79.
The relay team of Warweg,
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon), Grimstad and Barwick won the 200-yard medley relay with a blazing time of 1:33.88.
Barwick, Miller,
Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) and Larsen added a second-place finish for UWSP with a time of 3:13.56 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
For the Pointer women,
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led with a third-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:54.72, fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.16 and a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.38.
Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) added a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:37.57.
The relay team of

Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield),
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) and
Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.79.
Gracyn Schmitz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and
Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) earned fourth-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.11 and in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.83, respectively.
Ernst, Scheglowski,
Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) and
Madeline Krzykowski (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) registered a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:48.28
The Pointers will travel to UW-Whitewater on Saturday, Nov. 18. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
