EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team dropped their dual with UW-Eau Claire. The UWSP men finished with a score of 118 to UWEC's 182 and the UWSP women finished with a score of 93 to UWEC's 207.

The Pointer men were led by
Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) who took two first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly with times of 52.76 and 52.19, respectively. He also placed second in the 200-yard IM, clocking a time of 1:59.25.
Freshman Matthew Warweg had a productive day in the water, winning the 200-backstroke with a time 1:54.66 and placing second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.41.
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) logged two second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke with respective times of 22.32 and 58.47.
Jake Larson posted a second-place finish in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:00.24.
Matthew Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) continued the start to his collegiate career with a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:59.80.
Upperclassmen
Camden Barwick (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest),
Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) and
Mason Releford (Vacaville, Cal./Vacaville Christian) tacked on third-place finishes. Barwick raced to a 49.18 mark in the 100-yard freestyle, Kuehn swam to a 1:50.50 finish in the 200-yard freestyle and Releford raced to a 2:14.95 finish in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Winning the 200-yard medley relay was the unit consisting of Larson, Miller, Grimstad and Barwick to a mark of 1:35.39.
The relay team of Barwick, Miller, Kuehn and
Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:16.51.
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led the Pointer women with two wins in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke with times of 1:01.47 and 2:12.55, respectively.
Abby Hopfensperger (Appleton, Wis./West) added another first-place finish to her season total in the 1-meter dive with a score of 209.05.
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) tacked on two second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 25.52 and 1:02.18, respectively.
Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) took second in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 2:21.11.
Freshman Kenzie Osowski logged her first second-place finish of her collegiate career in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.38.
Ryanne Straubaugh earned a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 208.08.
Rounding out the Pointers top finishers was
Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County), who logged a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.02 and taking fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 2:38.80.
The relay team of
Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther),
Anna Scheglowski (Northfield, Minn./Northfield), Vandenberg and
Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) took second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.55.
Taking second in the 400-yard freestyle relay was the unit consisting of Ernst,
Brooke Buck (Janesville, Wis./AZVA Academy), Scheglowski and
Hannah Scherwinski (Kenosha, Wis.) who clocked a time of 3:48.98.
The Pointers will travel to St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday (Nov. 4) for the Minnesota State Mankato/Gustavus Tri. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
