Pointers Men Take Down UW-La Crosse in Annual Dual

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team split their dual against UW-La Crosse on Saturday. The men won with a score of 198 to UWL's 99. The women fell with a score of 112 to UWL's 186.

Results

Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.04, finishing almost three seconds before the second-place finisher. Grimstad also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.94 and the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:58.08.

Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) topped the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.78 touching the wall over 10 seconds before the second-place finisher.

Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time 21.62. Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) followed closely behind in second place with a time of 21.87. Miller also finished in second place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.68.

Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) topped the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.87.

Matthew Loy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.36.

Rhys Gibbs (Colgate, Wis./Arrowhead Union) topped the 200-yard backstroke clocking a time of 2:02.89.

Evan Plummer (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won the 3-meter dive with a score of 311.75 and finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 268.95.

The relay team of Larsen, Miller, Grimstad and Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:34.86.

Lennertz, Miller, Biscan and Loy won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.37.

Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.46 and took second place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.39.

Biscan finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.53, finishing 0.41 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

For the women, Brooke Buck (Janesville, Wis./AZVA Academy) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.49. Buck also won the 100-yard freestyle clocking a time of 54.81 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.62.

Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) topped the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.48. Fris finished in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.64.

Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:39.59.

Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther), Buck, Fris and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.57.

Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) took second place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:42.58.

The relay team of Ernst, Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) and Hansen finished third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.71, touching the wall 0.60 seconds after the second-place team.

Mimi Trenary (Moline, Ill./Moline) placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.22.

Cachuela took third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:20.91.

Ernst finished in third place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.92.

Signe Alger (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.30.

The Pointers will host UW-Milwaukee next Saturday (Feb. 4). The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
