STEVENS POINT, Wis.- The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team won the Point Invite with a score of 1289, winning five events on the day. The women placed second with 876, winning one event.
Results
Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.87. Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) followed behind in second place with a time of 52.81.
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.78. Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) touched the wall less than 3 seconds behind to finish in second place with a time of 1:00.74.
Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.85.
Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) topped the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.03.
The relay team of Larsen, Miller, Grimstad and Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:34.53.
Larsen, Matthew Loy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights), Kody Hellenbrand (Madison, Wis./East) and Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) took second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.25.
Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) placed third in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:26.54.
For the women, Brooke Buck (Janesville, Wis./AZVA Academy) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.95.
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) placed second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:02.82, beating out the third-place finisher by just 0.02 seconds.
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) finished in second place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of1:00.19. Vandenberg also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.23.
The relay team of Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther), Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), Vandenberg and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.06, finishing just over two seconds behind the winning team.
Buck, Vandenberg, Fris and Ernst finished in second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:51.68.
Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) took third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.25.
Signe Alger (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter) finished third place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.67.
The Pointers will host UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 28). The dual is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
