STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team won eight events in the first day of the Point Invite. The men are in first with 648 points and the women are in third with 368 points.
Results
Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:59.16. Grimstad also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.92.
Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.75.
Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) topped the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.65.
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.40.
The relay team of Lennertz, Matthew Loy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights), Biscan and Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.69.
Larsen, Biscan, Grimstad and Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) won the 400-yard medley relay with a time 3:34.53.
For the women, Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) won the 100-yard backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:00.78.
Brooke Buck (Janesville, Wis./AZVA Academy) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.81. Buck also finished third place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.97.
The team of Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North), Ernst, Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) finished in second place with a time of 1:39.84 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Fris, Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), Vandenberg and Buck took second place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time 4:08.43.
The Pointers will compete in day two of the Point Invite on Saturday (Jan. 21). The first race is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
