The UW-Stevens Point baseball team landed four on the D3baseball.com All-Region 9 teams, it was announced on Tuesday (May 31).
Aaron Simmons (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and
Anthony Tomczak (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) earned first team honors,
Sidney Ferry (Paw Paw, Mich./Homeschooled) was named to the second team and
Lucas Luedtke (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) landed on the third team.

Simmons earns his third all-region nod from D3baseball.com after honors in 2019 and 2021 (no award in 2020). Simmons adds the award to a lengthy list of honors this season. He was the WIAC Position Player of the Year and a repeat All-WIAC first team selection. This season, he hit .366 with a school record 20 home runs and a program record 43 walks. He hit two triples this season to tie for the WIAC all-time lead with 16 career three-baggers. Simmons leads the team with 62 RBI this year and is second on the squad with 13 stolen bases. He also has racked up 409 total bases in his career, a school record. Simmons was named WIAC Athlete of the Week on May 10 after hitting six home runs over eight games to close out the regular season.

Tomczak adds an all-region nod in his first season with the Pointers. He led the team in hitting with a .390 average and 20 RBI. Defensively, Tomczak has cut down 10 potential base stealers with just one error in 179 chances. He was an All-WIAC honorable mention team selection and boasts a team-best .514 on-base percentage.

Ferry repeats as a first-team all-region selection after earning the nod in 2021. He is 5-0 with six saves this season and a team-best 1.89 ERA. Ferry holds a 43-to-4 strikeouts-to-walks ratio this season over 33.1 innings in 18 appearances. He also earned WAIC Athlete of the Week honors on May 10 after going 2-0 with two saves in four outing the final week of the regular season. Ferry was also a repeat All-WIAC first team honoree this season.

Luedtke lands his first career all-region selection. He is second on the team with a .380 average and has slugged 14 home runs, three in the Super Regional clincher. His 59 RBI are second on the team as are his 13 doubles. He has started all 48 games as UWSP's designated hitter and is tied for the team lead with 71 base hits.

The Pointers as a team set the school record with 263 walks drawn this season, already 49 more than the previous record of 214 set in 1997. UWSP opens the College World Series on Friday (June 3) at 1:15 p.m. against Salisbury.
