Box Score 2 MEQUON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team improved to 18-4 with a split on Saturday. UWSP fell in the opener to host Concordia (Wis.), 8-1, before rebounding for a 9-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran.
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won her No. 3 singles match by a score of 6-2, 7-6. The Pointers forced three other super-breakers but fell in all three against CUW.
In the second match of the day, the Pointers won a pair of super-breakers to complete the sweep.
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) rallied form 6-3 first set defeats to force and win super-breakers at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) won her No. 2 singles match, 6-0, 6-2, and pair with Leithold for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Woelfel and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won the No. 2 doubles by an 8-6 final. Scharf picked up another win at no. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Laura Traver (Jefferson, Wis. /Jefferson) won twice against WLC. In singles, she won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6. In doubles play, she and
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) won at No. 3, 8-1.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
The Pointers travel to Appleton for two more matches on Sunday (April 10). UWSP will face North Park at 12:30 p.m. before taking on host Lawrence at 3:30 p.m.
