MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team landed the two top honors as
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis.) earned WIAC Player of the Year and
Tyler Krueger was named WIAC Coach of the Year among the litany of awards the Pointers garnered on Wednesday (March 9). Fader also earned first-team All-WIAC honors along with
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.),
Brady Smith (Bloomington, Ill.) and
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont.) picked up honorable mention accolades. Wagner also was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team

Krueger earns his second WIAC Coach of the Year honor after gathering the award in 2019. He guided the Pointers to the 15th WIAC regular season championship this year and the seventh 20-win season in the last eight full campaigns. This year, the Pointers finished 21-6-1 and reached the WIAC Tournament championship game for the eighth consecutive season. Krueger's record in five seasons at the helm of the program is 96-23-10. With Fader's nod as WIAC Player of the Year, The Pointers have earned the award four of Krueger's five seasons at UWSP.
Fader becomes the sixth UWSP player named to the league's top honor in the nine seasons the award has been handed out. He also picks up his first career conference award in the first-team selection. He led the league with 32 points, 15 goals and 17 assists. Fader scored three shorthanded goals, the most I the league and ripped a league-best 87 shots on the year. He had nine multi-point games this season, including back-to-back four-point games that included four goals against UW-Stout on Feb. 4.
Roo picks up his second career league honor following an honorable mention selection in 2019. He was second on the team with 20 points this year. Two of his seven goals were shorthanded tallies and twice he netted the game-winner, including in overtime at UW-Eau Claire on Dec. 11. He added 13 assists, the third most on the team. Roo was named the WIAC Athlete of the Week in November, his second career weekly award.
Wagner grabs his first league honor and the sportsmanship award after seeing the bulk of time in net for the Pointers. He went 16-4-0 in goal with a 2.00 goals against average. Wagner recorded three shutouts and the Pointers were a +40 in goals with Wagner in net.
Smith earns his first-team honor in his first season in a UWSP sweater. He scored six goals and added eight assists while helping UWSP's defense allow the second fewest goals in the league. Twice during league play Smith had a goal and an assist in the game for a season-best two-point night.
Humberstone also snags a league honor in his first season as a Pointer. He was second on the team with 14 assists. Three times in the year he posted a two-assist night. Humberstone was also integral on the blue line in aiding the Pointers in allowing the second fewest goals against in the league.
UWSP's four first-team selections is the most since the 2018-19 season when the Pointers went unbeaten and won the National Championship under Krueger.
