MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming team competed in their final meet of the regular season against Milwaukee on Saturday. For the women, UWSP finished with a score of 64 and UWM finished with a score of 196. For the men, UWSP finished with a score of 88 and UWM finished with a score of 172.
Results
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:37.13. Pilecky also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.43.
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.14. Fris also finished in third place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.09.
Anna Johnston (Rosemount, Minn.) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 1:01.97.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay,
Julia DeGroot (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly),
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North),
Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) and
Haley Dees (Normal, Ill./West) took third place with a time of 1:41.23. Ernst also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.56.
Vandenberg took fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.30.
Rose Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.14.
For the men,
William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) and
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) finished first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 58.36 and 59.60 respectively. Miller also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.79.
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.81.
Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.89.
Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) finished in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.31. Young also placed third in the 200-yard IM with a time 1:58.78.
Ethan Otto (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) took second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.72.
The relay team of
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon), Buhler,
Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and Miller took second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.09.
Rhys Gibbs (Colgate, Wis./Arrowhead Union) finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.72. Gibbs also placed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.20.
In two weeks, the Pointers will compete at the WIAC Championships in Brown Deer, Wis. The meet will start on Wednesday Feb. 16 and run through Saturday Feb. 19.
