Miller Posts School Record in 100 Breaststroke, Pointer’s Men Lead at Wheaton Invitational

WHEATON, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team ended the first day of the Wheaton Invitational with the men in first with 485 points, 194 points ahead of the second-place team, and the women in third with 286 points.

Results

Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) beat the school record for the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.91, a Division III consideration time, finishing first in the event.

Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.71.

Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) topped the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:53.94.

Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) finished first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.90.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin), Miller, Larsen and Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) won with a time of 1:23.44.

Grimstad, Miller, Larsen and Lennertz topped the 400-yard medley relay with a time 3:22.19.

On the women's side, Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:10.41 and placed sixth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:16.94.

Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) finished in third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:20.62.

The relay team of Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North), Fris, Brooke Buck (Wausau, Wis./AZBA Academy) and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) finished third in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:37.94.

The team of Fris, Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), Vandenberg and Buck placed third in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:01.67.

The Pointers will participate in day two of the Wheaton Invitational tomorrow. Preliminary rounds start at 10:00 a.m. and the final rounds begin at 5:00 p.m.

500-yard freestyle – Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw), 4:48.23 (3rd)

100-yard freestyle – Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin), 46.91 (4th)

Women

500-yard freestyle – Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area), 5:27.02 (5th)

100-yard breaststroke – Kate Henson (Morrison, Ill./Morrison), 1:09.92 (8th)

100-yard freestyle – Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North), 54.99 (7th)
