Pointers Take 27 Events Against Whitewater

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team won 27 out of the 32 events with eight swimmers winning two or more events in their dual meet against UW-Whitewater. The men won 227-65 and the women won 213 to 76.  

Results

For the men, Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 21.74 and 2:19.56, respectively.  

Ryan Trantham (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek Mackinaw) won the 1000- and the 500-yard freestyle with times of 10:27.82 and 5:01.92, respectively. Trantham also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.29.   

Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) topped the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.37. Larsen also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.36.  

Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.01. Miller also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.55.  

Kody Hellenbrand (Madison, Wis./East) finished in first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.99.  

Owen Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.23 and also placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.04.   

Evan Plummer (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won both the one-meter and the three-meter dive with a score of 302.80 in both events.  

The relay team of Larsen, Miller, Hellenbrand and Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:34.68.  

Winning the 200-yard free relay was the team of Biscan, Larsen, Lennertz and Miller with a time of 1:25.92.  

Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.66.  

On the women's side, Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) won both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke with times of 1:00.89 and 2:13.07,respectively. Fris also topped the 400-yard IM with a time of 2:18.24.  

Brooke Buck (Wausau, Wis./AZBA Academy) topped the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.75 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.10. Buck also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.94.  

Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North) topped the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.99. She also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.99.  

Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:32.28. Anderson also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:36.84.  

Mimi Trenary (Moline, Ill./Moline) clocked a time of 1:12.18 in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish first.  

Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) won the 200-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 2:21.00.  

Abby Hopfensperger (Appleton, Wis./West) won both the one-meter and the three-meter dive with scores of 235.75 and 244.75,respectively.  

The relay team of Fris, Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County), Vandenberg and Rose Hansen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) clocked a time of 1:53.02 to win the 200-yard medley relay.  

Winning the 200-yard freestyle relay was the team of Vandenberg, Hansen, Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) and Buck. They clocked a time of 1:40.04 

C. Powell finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:38.40.   

The Pointers will head to Wheaton, Ill.on Dec. 2-3 to compete in the Wheaton Invitational, the last meet of the semester. The meet is set to start at 9:30 a.m.
