STEVENS POINT, Wis. – In the final competition of the 2020-21 season the UW-Stevens Point and UW-Eau Claire swimming and diving teams combined to break 13 UWSP Aquatics Center pool records on Saturday. No team results were kept.
Results
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) broke two pool records during her 1650-yard freestyle race. She finished the first 1000 yards in a record time of 10:31.98. She then set the 1650 record with a time of 17:27.18. In session two, she set the pool record in the 500-yard freestyle with a winning time of 5:04.08.
William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) posted a pool record time of 55.74 to win the 100-yard breaststroke. He also combined with
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port),
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) and
Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) to clock a pool record time of 1:32.03 in the 200-yard medley relay. Jeffers won the 200-yard backstroke with a pool record of 1:50.37.
Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) set the pool record while winning the 400-yard IM. His time was 4:02.35.
Haley Dees (Normal, Ill./West) won the 200-yard freestyle touching at 1:59.46, just 0.16 seconds ahead of second place
Maddie Starr (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) clocked a time of 1:10.05 and 2:31.78 to win the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. Starr teamed with
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River),
Ava Magee (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) and
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) to win the 200-yard medley relay by a miniscule 0.02 seconds (1:50.97).
Kilian touched first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.65. He also finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.49.
Young and Larsen joined
Kody Hellenbrand (Madison, Wis./East) and
Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) to place first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:07.76.
Ethan Otto (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) took first in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:49.75, 48 seconds faster than the runner-up.
Owen Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle posting a time of 1:44.38.
UWEC set pool records in the men's 100-yard backstroke (49.46), 200-yard butterfly (1:51.13), 200-yard breaststroke (1:57.84), 200-yard IM (1:51.28) and 400-yard medley relay (3:22.54). Blugold Jessica Wilson posted a pool record in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.19).
