Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C.) had an assist and a goal, the game-winner, as the No. 6 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (2-1-0) earned a 2-1 road win at Gustavus Adolphus (1-2-0) on Friday.
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.) broke a scoreless tie with a shorthanded goal at 12:27 of the second period. Northey picked up his first point of the night with the assist.
In the third period, the host Gusties tied the game with 10:05 remaining.
The game remained tied until the final minute. Northey scored on a wraparound with 58.6 seconds left with what proved to be the game-winner.
Brandon McReynolds (North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Brady Smith (Bloomington, Ill.) recorded assists on the play.
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind.) made 21 saves in net for the win. GAC goaltender Grant Boldt made 26 saves.
The Pointers travel to St. Scholastica on Saturday (Nov. 6) to close out the weekend. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
