WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team won all but two events in their first conference meet against UW-Whitewater. The women's team finished with a score of 179 to Whitewater's 61, and the men finished with a score of 162 to Whitewater's 72.
Results
On the women's side,
Kasey Fris (New Lenoz, Ill./Lincoln Way West) won three events leading the women's team. In the 100-yard backstroke, Fris clocked a time of 1:01.49 for the first-place finish. Fris went on to win the 200-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 2:12.21 and 1:02.79, respectively.
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:42.12, finishing one minute and 25 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Pilecky also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.58.
The relay team of Fris,
Carolyn Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County),
Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) and Julia De Groot took first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.38.
All members of the relay team went on to win their own individual event. Powell clocked a time of 2:37.29 to win the 200-yard breaststroke. Cachuela took first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.07 and De Groot won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.38.
For the men,
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) won both the 50-yard and the 100-yard freestyle with times of 21.49 and 48.07, respectively. The relay team of Miller,
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port),
William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick), and
Jacob Biscan (Edina, Minn./Edina) took first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.84.
Jeffers took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.92, beating the second-place finisher by over five seconds. He also won the 200-yard backstroke by over seven seconds with a time of 1:58.02

Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and
Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) also won two events each. Grimstad won the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard IM with times of 1:59.76 and 4:24.61, respectively. Young took first place in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:46.81 and 2:10.94, respectively.
Evan Plummer (Eau Claire, Wis.) won both the one-meter and the three-meter dives with scores of 255.35 and 253.60.
The Pointers will head to Wheaton, Ill., on December 3 for the Wheaton Invite to finish out their competition for the first semester.
