UWSP Men Take Dual Against UWL, Women Fall Short

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team came out ahead of the UW-La Crosse team finishing with a score of 162-79. The UWSP women finished slightly behind UWL with a score of 139-103.
 
Results
 
The relay team of Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon), William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick), Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) and Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.73. The team of Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), Ivan Newham (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) and Matthew Inserra (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) finished closely behind with a time of 1:39.04.
 
Kilian finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.74. Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan) followed in third place with a time of 1:48.08. Kilian also finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time 47.88.
 
Larsen placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.49. Jeffers followed in third place with a time of 54.58.
 
Buhler won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.64.
 
Inserra and Lennertz took first and second place in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 22.05 and 22.31, respectively.
 
The relay team of Owen Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County), Larsen, Lennertz, and Inserra finished first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.57.

Evan Plummer (Eau Claire, Wis./) took first in both the one-meter and three-meter dive with scores of 284.70 and 250.20. 
 
Powell and Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) took second and third place, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 10:22.95 and 10:28.34.
 
Young, Zach Jorgenson and Jared Chatterton (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) went second, third and fourth in the 200-yard IM with times of 1:58.05, 2:01.75 and 2:04.44.
 
Aegerter, McPherson, and Jorgenson placed second, third and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 52.72, 52.76 and 53.68, respectively.
 
Second, third, and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle went to Aegerter, Young and Matthew Gorney (Oswego, Ill./Oswego), respectively, with times of 5:01.65, 5:04.22 and 5:06.37.
 
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) topped the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:45.76. Haley Dees (Normal, Ill./West) followed in second place with a time of 11:11.77. Pilecky and Dees also finished first and second, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle with a times of 5:16.50 and 5:28.21.
 
Maggie Liska (North St. Paul, Minn./Mahtomedi) finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.54.
 
Maddie Taylor (Rockford, Ill./East) took first place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.38. Lissa Racette (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) followed in third place with a time of 2:26.32. Taylor also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.47.
 
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill./East) and Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) placed first and second in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively, with times of 1:02.24 and 1:03.08.
 
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.98. Richetto also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.09. Kyra Goedken (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) finished closely behind with a time of 56.57, earning a third-place finish.
 
The relay team of Liska, Goedken, Dees and Richetto finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.69.
 
Next Friday, (Jan. 31), the Pointers will face Milwaukee at the UWSP Aquatics Center. The meet starts at 5:00 p.m.
