WAUKESHA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team started the day off with a win of 6-3 over Marian University followed by a loss of 9-0 against Carroll University.

In singles against Marian, freshman
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) earned a win in the No. 1 spot defeating her opponent with scores of 6-3, 6-0.
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won in the No. 2 singles spot with scores of 6-3, 6-2. Adding to the Pointers singles wins was
Lauren Kuenzli (Oshkosh, Wis./West) in the No. 6 spot with scores of 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles against Marian, all three Pointers duos claimed victory. In the No. 1 spot was Covek and Koepp with a win of 8-6. Earning a win in the No. 2 spot was
Nancy Cozzi (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) and
Alexis Means (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) with a dominating score of 8-0. In the No. 3 spot, Marissa Delany and
Alison Bognar (Minocqua, Wis./Lakeland Union ) took the win with a score of 8-2.
The Pointers faced Carroll to end the day of play. Koepp fell in a hard fought three-set match in the No. 2 singles spot. Cozzi and Means lost in a close 8-6 match in the No. 2 doubles spot.
The Pointers will face UW-Whitewater in a conference match at home Tuesday (Oct, 1) at 3:00 p.m.
