UWSP Women’s Tennis Win Big at Home

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team earned eight wins in singles and six wins in doubles, resulting in dominate match wins over Lawrence University and Alverno College.

Freshman Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) earned a 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 win at No. 1 singles against LU. Alexis Means (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles against LU. Anna Dobbe (La Crosse, Wis./Onalaska Luther) defeated LU in the No. 6 singles spot with a win of 6-3, 6-3.
Against Alverno, Dobbe, Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth), Rebecca Goska (Green Bay, Wis./Preble), Marissa Delaney (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska), and Lauren Kuenzli (Oshkosh, Wis./West) won singles matches for the Pointers. Dobbe and Goska both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, UWSP's No. 1 pairing of Covek and Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) earned an 8-6 win over LU. In the No. 2 doubles spot, Nancy Cozzi (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) and Lillie James (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) defeated LU with a score of 8-6. Dobbe and Katie Bechard (Sheboygan, Wis./North) took the No. 3 doubles win over LU with a score of 8-4.
Means and Woelfel earned a win in the No. 1 doubles spot with a score of 8-2 against Alverno. Dobbe and Bechard shut out Alverno 8-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot. Delaney and Kuenzli took the win in the No. 3 doubles spot with a score of 8-0 over Alverno.
 
The Pointers will hit the road to face UW-Oshkosh in a conference match at 3:00 p.m.
