WIAC Release
Ambelang pockets her second All-WIAC honor and first specialty award. She has aided the UWSP defense in allowing a league-low 68 shots on goal this season. The Pointers have recorded eight shutouts and Ambelang has led the charge that included three matches in which UWSP did not allow a shot on goal. Offensively, she has three assists on the season. Ambelang was also a United Soccer Coaches All-North Region selection in 2018.
Hess lands her third-straight All-WIAC accolade. As UWSP's other outside back, she has helped Ambelang and the Pointers hold opponents to just 68 total shots on goal, a league low. Hess has scored five goals on the year, including game-winners in back-to-back league matches, the second-most on the team. She also has three assists. Hess earned United Soccer Coaches All-North Region honors in 2018 as well.
Frierdich picks up her first league honor after a stellar freshman campaign. She leads the Pointers with seven goals and 16 points. UWSP's leader in shots (59) and shots on goal (27), Frierdich has two game-winners and earned WIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24.
Spees has played in all 18 matches this season with one starting assignment. She was named CoSIDA Academic All-District last week. On the season, she has one goal and one assist, both game-winners.
The Pointers travel to St. Louis, MO., for the first round of the NCAA Tournament to face Adrian on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 1:30 p.m.
