Wadas Nets Late Equalizer as Pointers Rally to Draw with Carthage

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – For the second time in less than a week, the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (4-3-4) scored in the final minute of play. The Pointers rallied twice on Wednesday for a 2-2 draw with visiting Carthage (4-4-2).

The Firebirds drew first blood with a go-ahead goal just 1:11 before halftime.

In the 55th minute. Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) tied the match at 1-1. It was the fourth-straight match with a goal for Klitzke and her fifth in that stretch. Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West) set up the goal with her first assist of the night.

Kayce Wadas (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) nearly put the Pointers in front in the 68th minute, but her shot hit the crossbar and stayed out.

Carthage regained the lead in the 80th minute as a cross resulted in a UWSP own goal.

The Pointers didn't stop there. In the final minute of play, Borchardt gained control of the ball near the Carthage box. She picked out a wide open Wadas on the back post for a tap in to tie the match with 40 seconds remaining.

The Pointers remain at home to host Saint Mary's on Sunday (Sept. 28) at 3:00 p.m.
