MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team completed the final day of the WIAC Championships (presnted by Culver's) on Sunday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Results

Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) won her fifth-place match in the No. 1 singles spot defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-4. Lillie James (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) took her first round No. 4 singles match to three sets resulting in a loss of 6-4, 1-6, (7-10).

In doubles, the duo of Covek and Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won their fifth-place match in the No. 1 slot beating their opponents, 8-5. In the No. 2 doubles spot, James and Nancy Cozzi (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) won their match, 8-5, in the second round. James and Cozzi claimed victory in their fifth-place match with a score of 8-2.

The Pointers finished the weekend in fifth place in the overall championship standings while totaling 21 championship points. In the dual-meet standings, they finished 2-4 placing them in sixth place. Katie Bechard (Sheboygan, Wis./North) earned the All-Sportsmanship Team award for the Pointers.
