EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team opened their season in a conference dual Friday evening against UW-Eau Claire. The men won the dual with a score of 139 to UW-Eau Claire's 104. The women fell short with a score of 88 to UW-Eau Claire's 155.
Results
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) topped the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:27.18 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.77, earning him a first-place finish in both.
Owen Powell (Olney, Ill./Richland County) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.94 and third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a final time of 10:34.21.
Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park),
Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) and
Caiden Kuehn (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) finished in the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Kilian earning first with a time of 1:48.31, and Larsen and Kuehn finishing with times of 1:48.61 and 1:50.18, respectively.
Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) and
Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan) dominated the 200-yard IM finishing first and second with times of 1:57.12 and 2:00.29. Young also finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:00.08.
Larsen and McPherson took the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly. Larsen finished first with a time of 53.88 and McPherson finished second with a time of 54.11.
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.45 and Kuehn finished third with a time of 56.04.
The relay team of
Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin), Aegerter,
Harrison Stasik (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) and
Jackson Kammermeier (Honeyoye, N.Y./Honey Falls Lima Central) took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:29.01.
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) earned a first-place finish in both the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.68 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.54.
Maggie Liska (North St. Paul, Minn./Mahtomedi) topped the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.60.
The relay team of
Signe Alger (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter),
Kyra Goedken (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon), Liska and
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) took the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.45.
Maddie Taylor (Rockford, Ill./East) earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:22.07. Goedken also earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.06.
Claire Neuberger (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) placed second in the one-meter diving with a final score of 231.30. In the same event,
Jess Posch (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) finished fourth with a score of 210.35.
Alger also took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.10.
The women took third, fourth and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with
Lissa Racette (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula),
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill./East) and
Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park). Racette finished third with a time of 1:02.89. O'Malley took fourth, finishing in 1:03.36, and Cachuela finished fifth with a time of 1:03.93.
The Pointers will head to Saint Peter, Minn., next weekend for a dual against Minnesota State and Gustavus Adolphus.
