STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team prevailed with the win at the annual Point Invite following Saturday's events. The men recorded a score of 1,244.5 while the women finished in fourth with a score of 518.5.
Results
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis. /Bay Port) pocketed another victory in the 200-yard backstroke. The freshman earned a time of 1:57.62.
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) nabbed the 100-yard butterfly crown with a time of 50.90. Teammate Zach Jorgenson followed up in the runner-up position with a time of 53.37.
Josh Gynther (Lagrange, Ga./Lagrange) earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 54.97.
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) and Sam Young went one-two in the 400-yard IM. The pair swam times of 4:17.80 and 4:18.34, both separating themselves a good time from the third-place swimmer.
Aegerter,
William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick), Moser and
Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) won the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet earned a time of 1:35.67, two seconds faster than the runner-up team from UW-Eau Claire.
Aegerter,
Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan),
Matthew Inserra (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) and Donnellan earned a runner-up position in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.57.
Donnellan made an appearance in the 50-yard freestyle. The senior freestyler finished with a time of 21.40, good for second place. Teammates Moser, Aegerter and
Riley Patton (Madison, Wis./Memorial) went four-five-six with times of 21.97, 22.17 and 22.21.
Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan) tabbed the runner-up position in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.22. Teammates
Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) and
Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) went six-seven with times of 1:51.09 and 1:51.12, respectively.
William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) earned third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.30. Teammate
Mitchel Hudrick (Pleasant Prairie, Wis. /Kenosha Tremper) finished in fifth place with a time of 1:02.86.
On the women's side,
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) and
Maggie Liska (North St. Paul, Minn. /Mahtomedi) went five-six in the 200-yard freestyle. The pair earned times of 2:03.04 and 2:03.22, each swimmer improving upon their preliminary times.
Liska and Richetto swam the first two legs of the 400-yard freestyle relay with
Ava Magee (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) and
Kyra Goedken (Green Bay, Wis. /Ashwaubenon). The quartet earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:50.12.
Over at the diving platform,
Jess Posch (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) led the Pointers with a sixth-place finish in the three-meter dive with a score of 332.70. She also earned a ninth-place finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 340.70.
Ava Magee (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) finished among the top-10 with a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched a time of 1:03.69.
The 200-yard medley relay quartet of
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River),
Breanna Ruffolo (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), Magee and Liska earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:58.02.
Libby Dammen (Milton, Wis./Milton) rounded out the top-10 with a 10th-place finish in the 400-yard IM. The freshman earned a time of 5:06.41, shaving four seconds off her preliminary time.
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) finished in 10th-place in the 200-yard backstroke. She touched a time of 2:21.13.
Breanna Ruffolo (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) earned a 12th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.29.
Up next, the Pointers head to La Crosse, Wis. for a dual with WIAC conference foe UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 26). The first race is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
