UWSP Men Complete Record-Setting Meet, Claim 19th-Straight Title

BROWN DEER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team set records in all five relay wins over the weekend and completed another dominating performance in winning its 19th-consecutive WIAC Championship.  UWSP racked up 905 points to claim the title by nearly 200 points.
 
Final Results
 
Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West), Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn.), Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis.) and Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) won the 400-yard medley relay with a conference meet record time of 3:00.67.
 
Jekel pocketed his seventh championship of the weekend with a win in the 100-yard freestyle.  His winning time of 44.55 was a conference meet record.  Englehardt clocked a time of 44.75 to finish second behind Jekel.
 
Aegerter won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:50.56, nearly four seconds clear of the runner-up.
 
Ivan Newham (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) finished with a time of 2:08.23 in the 200-yard breaststroke to place third.
 
Senior Owen Gluck (West Bend, Wis./East) placed third in the one-meter diving event with a score of 453.85.
 
Jacob Adamski (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City), Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park), Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) and Austin Teunissen (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) went third through sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle with times ranging from 16:44.75 to 16:54.50.
 
UWSP's women finished fifth at the WIAC Championship.
 
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill./) locked up second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.22.
 
Jackie Braun (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) scored 393.25 in the three-meter diving event to place third.
 
O'Malley, Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East), Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School) and Taylor Pehrson (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville High School) placed fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.51.
 
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.70.
 
Perkins swam a time of 2:30.36 in the 200-yard backstroke, good for seventh.
 
Senior Braun and Gluck were named the Judy Kruckman and Max Sparger Scholar-Athletes.  Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy) and Bridget Flesher (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
