UWSP Men’s Swimming Wins Wheaton Invite

WHEATON, Ill. - The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming team won the six-team field by nearly 500 points at the Wheaton Invitational.  The men scored 1,296 points, a margin of 498 points over host Wheaton.  The women concluded the weekend with a fourth-place finish. 
 
Results

Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) added another win to his weekend in the 400-yard IM.  He touched a convincing time of 4:02.34, six seconds faster than the runner-up. 
 
Aegerter later teamed up with Will Buhler, Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) and Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) to win the 200-yard medley relay.  The quartet timed in at 1:31.88.
 
Donnellan won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.67.  Riley Patton (Madison, Wis./Memorial) followed up with a fourth-place finish and a time of 21.10. 
 
Donnellan also teamed up with Aegerter, Moser and Patton to win the 400-yard freestyle relay.  They clocked in a time of 3:04.58. 
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Aegerter, Buhler, Moser and Donnellan won the 200-yard medley relay.  The quartet finished with a time of 1:31.88. 
 
Moser and Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan) went one-two in the 100-yard butterfly.  The pair swam times of 50.27 and 50.44, respectively.  Teammate Jared Larson (Newport Beach, Calif./SPASH) finished in 10th place with a time of 52.41. 
 
Sam Young picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.13.  Ivan Newham (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and Buhler went four-five in the same event with times of 2:10.15 and 2:10.30, respectively.  
 
Payton Kilian (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.  He swam a time of 1:43.85. 
 
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis. /Bay Port) finished in 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.12.     
 
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill./East) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 58.54 for the women.  Teammate Ava Magee (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) earned a sixth-place finish finishing with a time of 1:01.7.   
 
Freshman Maggie Liska (North St. Paul, Minn. /Mahtomedi) earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.  She earned a time of 24.90. 
 
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of O'Malley, Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East), Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and Haley Dees (Normal, Ill. /West) finished in fourth place.  They earned a time of 8:01.55. 
 
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) touched a time of 1:02.48 in the 100-yard backstroke, good for a sixth-place finish.  Teammate Murron Roff (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) finished in 10th in the same event with a time of 1:03.51. 
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River), Grace Gundrum (Pewaukee, Wis./Catholic Memorial), Grace Gallagher (Bloomington, Ill. /Normal West) and Richetto placed sixth with a time of 1:52.65.  
 
Richetto, O'Malley, Liska and Pilecky teamed up for the 400-yard freestyle relay.  The quartet finished with a time of 3:41.09, good for a seventh-place finish. 
 
Liska earned a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.  She touched a time of 2:00.71. 
 
Maddie Taylor (Rockford, Ill./East) and Gundrum went 11-12 in the 200-yard breaststroke.  The pair earned times of 2:36.95 and 2:37.51, respectively.
 
Up next, the Pointers return home on Friday (Dec. 7) to host conference foe UW-Oshkosh.  The first race is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
