UWSP Swimming Wins 17 Events in Dual Sweep at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team swept a dual at UW-Whitewater on Saturday. The Pointers won 17 events among eight individuals and three relays in the dual.  UWSP's women won 153-147 while the men dominated 210-80. 
 
Results
 
For the fourth week in a row, Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) recorded a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:42.55.  She also picked up another win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.53. 
 
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill./East) picked up a trio of wins in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly.  She touched times of 2:01.44, 2:17.08, and 1:00.70, respectively.    
 
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:19.59.  Benson later teamed up with
Brenna Ruffolo, O'Malley and Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) to earn the runner-up position in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:11.70. 
 
Maggie Liska (North St. Paul, Minn. /Mahtomedi), Richetto, Julia Degroot and Ava Magee (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.40. 
 
Liska and Richetto earned second- and third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle.  They finished with times of 25.99 and 26.02.  Richetto and Liska later went two-three in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 56.26 and 57.47.   
 
Magee finished in the runner-up position of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.40. 
 
Grace Gundrum (Pewaukee, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and Ruffolo went two-three in the 100-yard breaststroke.  The pair touched times of 1:12.80 and 1:13.14. 
 
For the men, Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis. /Bay Port), Jacob Adamski (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) and Jared Chatteron dominated the top-3 spots of the 100-yard backstroke.  They finished with times of 55.94, 57.05 and 57.19.  Jeffers also picked up a win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.97.    
 
Jeffers, Will Buhler, Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) and Riley Patton (Madison, Wis./Memorial) won the 400-yard medley.  The group powered to a time of 3:34.15. 
 
Moser, Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah), Patton, and Matthew Inserra (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) won the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The quartet finished in a time of 1:25.93. 
 
Sam Young won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.48.  Also, Young and Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) went 3-4 in the 1,000-yard freestyle relay with times of 10:28.60 and 10:32.36.   
 
Donnellan earned a pair of wins in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.  He earned times of 21.37 and 48.77. 
 
Moser, Ryan McPherson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Tartan) and Donnellan dominated the top-three spots of the 100-yard butterfly.  The trio earned times of 51.54, 54.05 and 54.76. 
 
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) won a trio of events in 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly, and 200-yard IM.  The NCAA championship swimmer finished with times of 1:47.22, 1:58.94 and 1:59.30.   
 
Buhler later picked up a runner-up position in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.01.  Jared Larson (Newport Beach, Calif./SPASH) and Ivan Newham (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) went three-four with times of 1:01.21 and 1:01.59. 
 
Up next, the Pointers head south to Wheaton, Ill., for the Wheaton Invite on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.  The first race slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
