PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior
Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) and sophomore
Donny Ralston (Ladysmith, WI/Bruce) won their respective weight classes to lift the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team to a tie for third at Friday's WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's). The Pointers tied host UW-Platteville with 97.5 points. UW-La Crosse (160 points) and UW-Whitewater (108) finished first and second in the team standings.

Reigning National Champion Hermsen began the meet with back-to-back falls. He earned an 8-3 decision victory in the semifinals and won the title with a 6-4 decision over UW-Eau Claire's Toby Mosley in the 165 weight class.
Ralston won by fall in his opening match and advanced to the semifinals via disqualification of his opponent. In the semifinals, he beat UW-Eau Claire's Justin Karkula by 2-1 decision. Ralston won the 285 weight class with an 8-0 major decision in the finals.
Junior
Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/West Allis) earned a fourth-place finish in the 197 weight class. He had four wins including a fall. Freshman
Ross Agg (Oak Creek, WI/Oak Creek) finished fifth in the same weight class.
Fellow junior
Joey Seitz (Campbellsport, WI/Kewaskum) placed fifth in the 141 weight class. Freshman
Jordan Weinzetl (Kimberly, WI/Kimberly) also placed fifth picking up a win by fall and a sudden victory along the way.
Michael Bannach (Wrightstown, WI/Wrightstown),
Jaden Boivin (Marinette, WI/Marinette),
Moziah Clark (Madison, WI/Madison West),
Alex Heiden (Stratford, WI/Stratford) and
Cody Nielsen (Oconto Falls, WI/Oconto Falls) all placed sixth in their respective weight classes. Heiden and Nielsen each won a match by fall on the day.
The Pointers return home on Friday (Feb. 17) to face non-conference foe Augsburg at 7:00 p.m. at Berg Gym.
