Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah),
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West),
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./) and
Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy) led the UW-Stevens Point men's swimming team on Saturday as they set three pool records at the Wheaton Invitational. The men finished with a score of 1141.5, good for first out of a five-team field, while the women finished with a total score of 528.5, good for fourth place out of the same five-team field.
Results
Englehardt set a pool record in the 50-yard freestyle defeating a former Pointer record. He finished with a time of 20.22, also an NCAA selection time. Teammate Donnellan also set an NCAA selection time where he followed Englehardt in second place with a time of 20.47.
Jekel, Donnellan, Richardson and Englehardt earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:29.71, an NCAA selection time. The group's time broke their own meet record set last year and tied the pool record.
Englehardt, Donnellan, Moser and Jekel won the 400-yard freestyle relay. The relay team finished with a time of 3:01.06, an NCAA consideration time and pool record.
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./) added a third event win of the weekend with a first-place finish in the 400-yard IM. His time of 4:04.78 was the fastest among teammates
Austin Teunissen (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck), Zach Jorgenson,
Caleb Meixner (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and
Ryan Altaweel (Madison, Wis. ), who all followed Aegerter, respectively, finishing with times just under 4:21.00.
Just missing an NCAA time, Moser touched a first place in the 100-yard butterfly. Moser finished with a time of 49.79.
Jekel swam a NCAA consideration time in the 100-yard backstroke. He finished in second place with a time of 49.98.
Payton Kilian and
Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) just missed NCAA consideration times when the duo finished in second and third place in the 200-yard freestyle. The duo finished with times of 1:42.86 and 1:42.89, respectively.
Jackson Aton (Berlin, Wis./Berlin) swam a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.60.
Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) added a third-place finish to his pocket in the 1650-yard freestyle. He finished with a time of 16:49.28.
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill. ) finished in second place in the championship swim of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.33.
Freshman
Breanna Ruffolo (Manitowoc, Wis. ) touched a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.01. Ruffolo later swam a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.93.
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis. /East) and
Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School) finished in sixth and eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle. The freshman-senior duo finished with times of 25.43 and 25.69. Richetto later finished in 12th place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.75.
Perkins finished in seventh-place in the 200-yard IM, swimming a time of 2:19.50.
Hannah Flak (/Wittenberg, Wis. ) finished in 10th place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:17.42.
The Pointers travel to Oshkosh, Wis. on Saturday (Dec. 8) to dual again UW-Oshkosh. The meet is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
