Swimming and Diving Falls in Dual at Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team suffered a sweep at the hands of Northern Michigan University on Saturday in a dual in the UP.  The women fell by a score of 188-90 and the men came up short by a score of 177-120. 
 
Results
 
For the men, freshman Payton Kilian pocketed a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.  The freshman out-swam his seeded time by two seconds, finishing with a time of 1:45.04.  Kilian's teammates, Jacob Aegerter and Garrett Richetto followed in third and fourth place, respectively, the pair swimming times of 1:46.92, and 1:47.10.
   
Owen Gluck finished in first place in the one-meter diving event.  Gluck finished with score of 473.62. 
 
Evan Plummer finished in second place in the three-meter diving event.  Plummer finished with a score of 454.87.
 
Sam Jekel, Reilly Donnellan, Brandon Richardson and Jack Englehardt swam a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.  The men finished with a time of 1:33.79.  Jekel later swam a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing time of 52.09.
 
Englehardt, Jekel, Richardson and Donnellan competed together in the 200-yard freestyle finishing in first-place with a time of 1:24.37.
 
Englehardt and Donnellan finished in second and third place in the 50-yard freestyle.  The duo finished with times of 21.31 and 21.37.  Englehardt added another second-place finish to his pockets in the 100-yard freestyle, a finishing time of 48.31. 
 
Zach Ogurek finished in second-place in the 100-yard breaststroke.  Ogurek finished with a time of 1:01.71. 
 
Ivan Newham finished in third-place in the 200-yard breaststroke.  Newham finished with a time of 2:16.62. 
 
Jacob Aegerter finished in fourth place in the 200-yard butterfly.  Aegerter finished with a time of 1:59.99.
 
On the women's side, Jackie Braun earned a pair of second-place finishes in the three- and one-meter diving events.  Braun finished with a total score of 419.10 and 451.80, respectively. 
 
Samantha James swam to a third-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:17.13.  
 
Anna O'Malley and Sydney Richetto picked up a third- and fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.  The freshman duo finished with times of 2:01.66 and 2:07.33.  Richetto later pocketed a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 57.60.
 
Breanna Ruffolo finished in third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.04. 
 
Margaret Hoover, Missy Angove and Murron Roff finished in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.  The trio finished with times of 26.52, 26.89, and 27.13. 
 
Kaylee Benson, Ruffolo, O'Malley and Richetto swam a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.  The women finished with a time of 1:52.41.  O'Malley also finished in third place in the 200-yard butterfly, a time of 2:15.89.
 
Benson later competed in the 200-yard backstroke, where she swam a second-place finish.  She finished with a time of 2:21.28. 
 
The swimming and diving teams return to the UWSP Aquatics Center to dual against UW-Whitewater on Saturday, Nov. 18.  The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
