EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team got a victory from its men as the squads opened up the 2017-2018 campaign with a dual at UW-Eau Claire. The men won by a team score of 162-78 with the women falling by a score of 144-98.

Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West),
Brandon Donaldson (Andalusia, Ala./Andalusia),
Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy), and
Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.61.
Austin Teunissen (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) and
Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) went first and second, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The pair finished with times of 10:38.10 and 10:52.21, which contributed 13 points to the team total. Teunissen later pocketed another first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.86.
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./),
Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) and Payton Kilian took the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle. The trio finished with times of 1:47.91, 1:49.27 and 1:49.73.
Owen Gluck (West Bend, Wis./East) won the three-meter diving event with a score of 293.95. He also tallied a second-place finish in the one-meter diving event with a final score of 289.95.

Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West), and Richetto, went second, third and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Each earning times just under 50 seconds.
Ivan Newham (Lino Lakes, Minn. ) and
Jackson Aton (Berlin, Wis./Berlin) earned a second- and third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. The duo finished with times of 2:18.99 and 2:21.58.
For the women,
Kaylee Benson (Elk River, Minn. /Elk River),
Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School),
Anna O'Malley (St. Charles, Ill. ) and
Sydney Richetto (Wausau, Wis. ) opened up the scoring with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The group finished with a time of 1:56.23, which contributed 11 points.
O'Malley also pocketed another first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. She finished with a time of 2:18.45.
Jackie Braun (Sauk Rapids, Minn./) earned a set of first-place finishes in the one- and three-meter diving events. Braun's final scores were 261.95 and 274.05, respectively.
Richetto also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.69. She also went on to finish second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.63.
Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School) finished in second place in the 200-yard IM. She finished with a time of 2:22.36, which contributed four points to the team's total.
Missy Angove earned a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished her race with a time of 26.99.
The Pointers head to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolphus and Minnesota State Mankato in a tri-dual meet on Sat., Nov. 4. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
