WHEATON, Ill. -- Senior
Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) went 5-0 on his way to the championship in the 165 weight class at the Pete Willson Invitational in Wheaton, Ill., this weekend. His title helped the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team place 14th out of 34 teams at the event.

Hermsen opened the weekend with a fall in just 28 seconds in his opening match. In the second round, he beat UW-La Crosse's Logan Schlough by a 1-0 decision. He earned three more decision wins as he defeated eight-seed Andrew Tolbert of Ferrum, 13-10, fourth-seed Mitchell Fucile of Lakeland, 7-3, in the semifinals and prevailed with an 8-4 decision in the finals over second-seed Larry Cannon of Messiah.
Sophomore
Donny Ralston (Ladysmith, WI/Bruce) also had a highly successful weekend, finishing as runner-up in the 285 weight class. Ralston had a trio of falls and a 7-0 decision win to reach the finals against top-seed Adarios Jones from Augustana. Ralston battled hard in the finals, but came up short in a 3-2 decision.
Three juniors for the Pointers earned victories at the invitational.
Jaden Boivin (Marinette, WI/Marinette) picked up three wins including a fall at 3:32 of the third round of the consolation bracket.
Cody Nielsen (Oconto Falls, WI/Oconto Falls) picked up a fall in the opening round at the 43 seconds mark at 174.
Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/West Allis) earned a 7-0 decision win in the first round of the loser's bracket at 197.
UWSP heads to UW-La Crosse next Friday (Feb. 3) for the final conference dual of the season before the WIAC Championships the following week.
