STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Reigning national champion Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) highlighted the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team's performance at Saturday's Pointer Open.  Hermsen recorded three falls in the 165 weight class advancing to the finals before dropping a close 5-3 decision to UW-Madison's Jacob Covaciu.

Sophomore Donny Ralston (Ladysmith, WI/Bruce) recorded four victories in the 285 weight class finishing fourth at the weight class. In his consolation finals match, he lost an overtime match to nationally-ranked Justice Davis of Concordia-Moorhead.

Freshman Frank Lor (Wausau, WI/Wausau) had a pair of wins by fall and placed fourth for UWSP in the 141 weight class.  Sophomore Moziah Clark (Madison, WI/Madison East) picked up three wins at 125 to place sixth.

A trio of Pointers had multiple wins in the 184 weight class.  Freshman Carlito Shiro placed third after three wins.  Teammate James Borgen (Amherst, WI/Amherst) also had three victories en route to placing fifth.   Ben Stassin (Griffith, IN/Griffith) had a pair of wins in the bracket as well.

Junior Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/West Allis) finished fourth after a close overtime loss to nationally-ranked Mason Baumgartner from Concordia.

On the day, the Pointers had 13 wrestlers place in the top-6, including five freshmen.

The Pointers head to Dubuque, Iowa next Saturday (Nov. 12) for matchups against the University of Dubuque and Loras College.
