STEVENS POINT, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point held a 13-8 lead over fifth-ranked Augsburg College on Friday evening, but the visiting Auggies posted victories in their final five matches to down the Pointers 32-13 in the regular season finale at Berg Gym

The visiting Auggies built an early 8-0 advantage with wins at 133 and 141, but the Pointers put six points on the board with an Austin Worachek (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) pin at 149.

Anthony Friese (Hortonville, WI/Waupaca) picked up three more team points for UWSP with his 9-6 victory at 157. Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) extended the Pointers lead to its largest of the dual, 13-8, with a major decision at 165.

From there it was all Auggies, as Augsburg rattled off five straight wins, aided by wins from three ranked wrestlers in the final three matches, all ranked in the top-7 of Division III, to secure the 32-13 win.

UW-Stevens Point (6-11) next heads to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Crawfordsville, Ind., Saturday, Feb. 28. The regionals are hosted by Wabash College.
