Meylor, Ross score for women's soccer in loss at Luther

Box Score DECORAH, Iowa – Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) and Jillian Ross (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) each scored but host Luther scored three goals in each half to defeat the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game.

Ellie Bunz and Melisse Chasse each scored twice and combined for three assists for Luther (4-0), who outshot UW-Stevens Point (1-4) 19-6 in the game.
 
Meylor gave the Pointers an early lead 4:17 into the game with her first goal of the season. However, Bunz scored 27 seconds later for the Norse to tie the game at 1-1 and Luther added two more goals in the next 11 minutes.
 
With UW-Stevens Point trailing 4-1, Ross scored her team-high third goal of the season at the 58:46 mark before Luther scored the final two goals of the game.
 
Lauren Thormodsgard picked up the win for the Norse, making three saves in the contest. Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) kept out five Luther shots for the Pointers.
 
UW-Stevens Point plays at No. 6 Wheaton (Ill.) on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
