Six Pointers Receive Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind.—Six players on the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team, Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West), Katrina Engel (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), Kaitlan Jones (Plymouth, Minn./Heritage Christian Acad.), Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area), Emily Miner (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) and Kayce Wadas (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) were recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced Tuesday (Nov. 25)

Borchardt earned her first academic all-district selection. She started and played in all 22 matches this season. Borchardt recorded six goals and 10 assists on the season. She ended the season ranked fourth in the conference in assists, ranked sixth in the conference in SOG with 26, seventh in the conference in points with 22, ninth in the conference in shots with 51 and 12th in the conference in goals. Borchardt was named to the All-WIAC Team this season.
 
Engel received her first academic all-district honors. She played in 20 matches while starting in eight this season. Engel recorded three shots on the season. She stepped in at center back late in the season and helped the UWSP defense post nine shutouts on the season.
 
Jones earned her second-straight academic all-district selection. She started and played in 21 matches this season. Jones played the third-most minutes of non-goalkeepers on the team this season with 1,774. She aided the UWSP defense in recording nine shutouts this season.
 
Klitzke received her third-straight academic all-district honor. She started and played in all 22 matches this season. Klitzke recorded 10 goals and two assists on the season. For six-straight games, she scored at least one goal in every game. This season, she earned WIAC Kwik Trip Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week of September 15-21 along with being named to the All-WIAC team.
 
Miner earned her first academic all-district selection. She started and played in 21 games this season. Miner recorded one goal on the season. She ended the season with the second-most shots with 34.
 
Wadas received her first academic all-district honor. She played in 22 matches this season while starting in 20. Wadas ended the season with two goals and eight assists. This season, she was ranked sixth in the conference in assists.
 
The Pointers ended the season in the WIAC Championships Semifinals (Nov. 7) with a record of 9-5-8. Along with Borchardt and Klitzke, Ainsley Katte (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and Emma Schmidt (Oshkosh, Wis./West) earned all-conference honors.
