Box Score

After a scoreless first half in which UW-Stevens Point (3-6) outshot Simpson (2-8) by a 17-2 margin, the Pointers scored twice in a 10-minute span in the second half. The Pointers took a season-high 26 shots in the game, 11 of which were on goal.

Schneider scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal nearly 10 minutes into the second half. The goal was the first of her collegiate career and came when her cross from the left wing went in over Kristin Riley in the Simpson net.

In the 65th minute, Vitale doubled the UWSP lead with her first goal of the season. Vitale was left with a tap in at the far post after a free-kick from near the corner flag on the right wing by Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) came back off the cross bar.

Morgan Voigt (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) had just one save to make in recording her second shutout in as many starts. Kara Herr (Schafer, MN/Chisago Lakes), Jillian Ross (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) and Meylor combined for 15 of the 26 UW-Stevens Point shots.

The Pointers play at St. Norbert on Sunday, Sept. 28 at noon.
