Women's soccer falls at No. 5 Wheaton

Box Score WHEATON, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by No. 5 Wheaton on Wednesday night at Joe Bean Stadium.

UW-Stevens Point (1-5) held Wheaton (5-0) scoreless until Sarah Frey scored on a rebound at 42:51 of the opening half. Early in the second half, Kendall Eitreim doubled the Thunder lead with a long-range shot that fell under the crossbar.
 
Sydney Sharkey added an unassisted goal in the final 10 minutes for Wheaton. The Thunder outshot the Pointers 27-8 in the game, including 9-2 in shots on goal.
 
Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) made six saves in the loss, including a close-range reaction save in the final minutes. Mary-Kate Schiffer (Palatine, IL/William Fremd) led UW-Stevens Point offensively with four shots.
 
The Pointers host Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Point Soccer Bowl.
