Woloszyn steps down as head women’s cross country/track & field coach

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – After five seasons as the head women's cross country and track & field coach at UW-Stevens Point, Megan (Craig) Woloszyn has stepped down, it was announced by Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery.

Megan and her new husband, Adam, will be moving to California where Adam has accepted a new position.

"Megan has been an asset to the UW-Stevens Point cross country and track & field programs-both as a student-athlete and a coach," said Montgomery. "She always did what was in the best interest of her student-athletes. While we will really miss Megan, we are all very excited for her and her husband, Adam."

Woloszyn completed her fifth season as head coach of both the women's cross country and track and field teams in 2013-14. Under her leadership, 12 school records fell, 13 student-athletes earned All-American honors, 11 earned All-Academic honors, and four of her teams earned All-Academic honors in both cross country and track and field have been awarded under Woloszyn' s leadership.

"After five years of building the program at UW-Stevens Point, I will miss my Pointer family the most-my team," said Woloszyn. "I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to UWSP and will cherish all the memories made. It has been a pleasure to coach here and I wish the program and department nothing but success."

Woloszyn ran for the Pointers cross country and track teams from 2001-2006, gaining many accolades along the way. She was a seven time All-American, was named UWSP Freshman Athlete of the year, won the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar Athlete Award, and broke UWSP records in the 1500m, 4x800m relay, and the Distance Medley Relay. She was a three time All-WIAC selection in cross country and led her team to 3rd and 6th place finishes at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships. Woloszyn also helped her track & field team to a third place finish at the NCAA DIII Championships in '03. Woloszyn was a four-time indoor and outdoor national qualifier. She was also a six-time All-American in three different events from '03-'05.

Woloszyn graduated from UWSP in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and health education. From there, she obtained a master's degree in kinesiology and sports administration from Eastern Illinois University where she served as an assistant coach with the track and field and cross country teams.  As an assistant coach, she helped EIU to its strongest recruiting class in five seasons and helped the Panthers to indoor and outdoor conference championships in 2009 and coached three NCAA Division I national qualifiers.

"While we are both sad to leave our family and friends, we are excited for this new chapter in our lives and the opportunity for Adam to grow his business," said Woloszyn
