ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The UW-Stevens Point women's cross country team got an at-large bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship on Sunday after finishing fourth at the D3 Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Saukie Golf Course.

The Pointers advanced to nationals for the first time since 2010 and the 16th time in program history. UWSP finished with 126 points, 12 behind third-place Washington University and well ahead of fifth-place Aurora. The University of Chicago (60) and UW-La Crosse (101) finished in the top two spots, respectively. Â
UW-Stevens Point was led by
Ana Breit (Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli), who just missed out on a top-10 spot by finishing 11th of 282 runners. Breit's time was 22:13.
Julia Colling (Maplewood, MN/North) secured a top-20 finish in the regional, running 18th in 22:23. Â
Haley Steig (Osseo, WI/Osseo-Fairchild) (31st),
Kelsey Laska (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) (34th) and
Paige Haberkorn (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) (38th) made it five Pointers in the top 40.
Lauren Dilley (Middleton, WI/Middleton) (41st) and
Danielle Macareno (Kenosha, WI/Kenosha Bradford) (146th) were also in the field for UWSP. Â
The NCAA Championships are held next Saturday, November 23 in Hanover, Indiana.
