Box Score 1 STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team was edged 1-0 in overtime by Concordia-Moorhead in its opening game of the 2014 season on Friday afternoon at Community Stadium at Goerke Park.

UW-Stevens Point nearly opened the scoring in the 13th minute when
Jillian Ross (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) met a corner kick from
Kim Gietman (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) but her header was cleared off the line by Concordia-Moorhead.Â
The closest the Cobbers came to scoring in regulation came in the 33rd minute. After
Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) saved a close-range shot by Concordia-Moorhead's Sadie Hayes, Rochelle Hickerson's shot off the rebound went wide.
Emily Dietrich (Franklin, WI/Muskego) led the Pointers with three shots, including two on goal. Hayes and Elizabeth Robinson each had three shots on goal for the Cobbers.
Elizabeth Bitzan earned the win in goal for Concordia-Moorhead by making six saves, while Churkey recorded 10 saves for UW-Stevens Point.
In the second game of the day, UW-Oshkosh defeated St. Thomas 1-0 on an early goal by Amanda Baalke. The Pointers face St. Thomas on Saturday, August 30 at 2 p.m. That game will be followed by Concordia-Moorhead and UW-Oshkosh at 4 p.m.
